Here is a cute little instructional video for those of my English 9ers who are still confused about why we signed up for Google Docs.
And please remember that this week and over break we are going to try to:
1. Develop our First Drafts into Rough Drafts.
2. Invite two people to “Share” with. To use Peter Elbow’s terminology, one will be from your reading “audience allies.” Since we will be transferring some of our ideas electronically, I think it is fine to share with a classmate from my other English 9 class if you wish. The other person you will share with will be me, at my school email address (bquale@isstavanger.no).
3. Play around with the “comment” feature (in the “insert” tab) and write something on each others drafts. I will attempt to do the same. Lets stay away from “criticism” or “evaluation,” and instead offer nonevaluative feedback. This can include:
- Parts that you enjoyed reading. Parts that stood out, were memorable or effective.
- What you think he or she is arguing. What you think his or her main point might be.
- Confusing areas. Parts or ideas that could be clarified.
- Where you want to read more, as well as what you want to read more about.
