In Part One of this slightly strange documentary, Kurt Vonnegut talks about growing up, writing short stories for the magazines, and then he gets interviewed by his good friend Kilgore Trout.
And in Part Two, Vonnegut talks about science-fiction writers, and Mr. Trout goes to the library to look up his books in the card catalog. Vonnegut also reads a selection from the first chapter of Slaughterhouse-Five.
In Part Three, Vonnegut reads more from Slaughterhouse-Five (while playing ping-pong), and talks about writing the novel (which is more or less a summary of Chapter 1). Documentary footage of the destruction of Dresden is also included in this part, as Vonnegut describes his experiences that led to the book.

Thank you for the link and recommendation. We are working on Vonnegut right now, so it works out perfect. I’m actually teaching in Norway, and plan to be here for at least one more year.
